May 23, 1618: A Protestant tribunal in Prague finds two Catholic imperial governors guilty of violating religious freedom laws and throws them and their scribe out the window of the Bohemian Chancellery. The Thirty Years War breaks out when Emperor Ferdinand II looks up "defenestration" in his dictionary.
